About Us
Our mission
Since its creation, the main objective of the UBAtc has been to provide all stakeholders in the construction sector with a simple and reliable way to ensure the suitability of an innovative product for use
Our services
The technical approvals and assessments carried out by (the operators of) UBAtc asbl lead to declarations of fitness for use and European Technical Assessments that help to control the technical risks when using the assessed products and contribute to the quality of the construction works and the construction process.
Our organisation
The non-profit organisation “UBAtc asbl” is supported by all major actors in the Belgian construction sector and the impartiality of the executive institutes functioning as a network.
Our partners
This allows UBAtc asbl to deliver European Technical Assessments in addition to the technical approvals, ATG, and improves the basic knowledge of the organisation, which improves the quality of the approvals and assessments, but can also lead to a simplified conversion of the Technical Approvals, ATG, to approvals issued by organizations in other countries.
Since 2011, UBAtc also provides the secretariat of UEAtc.
Our history
More than 60 years dedicated to the quality and security in the building sector.
The Technical Approval was introduced in 1960 in order to provide innovative construction products, which do not have a normative framework, with a reliable assessment of their suitability for use.

our services and benefits
01.
ATG: Quality to build upon
Technical Approvals have been the Belgian construction sector’s main system to instil confidence in using innovative, unique and complex products and systems for the past 50 years, both for public and private works.
02.
By the sector, for the sector
The technical approval system is being managed by the construction sector for the benefit of the construction sector, i.e. by the stakeholder parties concerned manufacturers, distributors and importers, architects, designers and specifiers, contractors, installers and assemblers, private and public construction works specifiers and owners, developers and insurers, collective research centres, third parties (labs, certifiers, inspectors, …) and users of construction works (you and me).
03.
Facilitating market acceptance and instilling confidence for innovation in construction
A technical approval provides your customers with confidence, as it demonstrates that the product is fit for the intended use, is in accordance with the Belgian legislation for construction works and may be installed without undue risks and certified to ensure that the product that is placed on the Belgian market corresponds with the product specified in the technical approval text.
04.
Offering valuable marketing argument
A technical approval will give your product a good reputation on the market and provides you a new marketing argument: an independent and renowned organisation has recognized the fitness for use of your product, however innovative it may be.
05.
If it bears the ATG-mark, quality has been achieved
Approved products go the extra mile
All products that bear the ATG-mark complies with the regulatory requirements and those of the users. Simple.
The durability of products covered by technical approvals has been verified. After all, we want construction works to last. Solid.
06.
Checked by independent experts
Once the fitness for use has been established and documented in the technical approval text by the technical experts of the approval operator, independent experts of the certification operator will continuously check that product placed on the Belgian market correspond with those specified in the technical approval text. Reliable.
