On Sunday 16 and Monday 17 March 2025, CONTRATS DE RIVIERE DE WALLONIE organized a small fair to introduce private individuals (Sunday) and government officials (Monday) to the solutions offered in Belgium to put an end to the misery of flooding. This wonderful initiative with Ethias as main sponsor is the first regional event where the stakeholders involved, from users to manufacturers to supporting organizations, were brought into contact with each other. The BUtgb could of course not be absent from this appeal!
In a small but cozy hall in the municipality of Seneffe, we were given a place next to several manufacturers of solutions and products against flooding who were eager and enthusiastic to speak to the visitors.
And there were many of them! The space was only just big enough to receive everyone, but it was very friendly and undoubtedly, thanks to this meeting, great steps will be taken towards better management of the flood problem. As BUtgb, we have also made many contacts and will happily and devoutly support these social efforts. We are also looking forward to this Walloon initiative being embraced by the other Belgian regions.
UBAtc presented the progress of the “FLOOD” project. This project aims to validate tested products/systems and then certify them to combat flooding.
Attention was also drawn to the ID Innovation attestation, which is a first step towards ATG certification of these innovative products/systems and which can be issued quickly.
These presentations aroused a great deal of interest and raised specific questions.
